Cambodia Campaign
This campaign began as a creative exploration but quickly became a lesson in listening and learning. Working alongside artisans in Cambodia reminded me that art is not just about the final product, but about the people, relationships, and stories behind it. Using leather as a medium became a way to connect different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
Throughout the process, I learned the importance of collaboration over giving direction. Instead of arriving with fixed ideas, I discovered that the work became much more meaningful when ideas and skills were shared in both directions. The artisans brought generations of craftsmanship, patience, and cultural knowledge, while I contributed new perspectives and techniques. Together, we created pieces that reflected many voices, not just one.
This experience reshaped how I think about ethical creativity and responsible storytelling. It encouraged me to look beyond surface-level impact and consider how creative projects can support communities when built on respect, trust, and shared effort. I leave this project with gratitude, greater awareness, and a commitment to creating work that respects and supports the people involved, even after the campaign ends.
